If you want something memorable, fun and still within your curriculum for Earth Day, you have to try my Re-Create Challenge. This is a recycling craft with a creative take on paragraph writing. Take a look at the package below.
First of all: take look at just some of the things my daughter and I were able to create from recycled materials:
The possibilities are so vast, and your students’ creativity will surprise you! Here’s a peak into the package:
I’ve provided you with teacher instructions so that you and your students have the best possible experience!
Kids first plan out their craft, using the planner below. Then at the end of the package they are asked to imagine what their design would look like 100 years from now, after some updates :). The best part: you get an art rubric to provide students with some feedback regarding their product design.
Here is where your curriculum ties in! Students are asked to write a series of paragraphs about their design. This includes instructional, descriptive, persuasive & narrative paragraphs.
First they plan:
Then they write, using a checklist:
Lastly, you get to provide feedback/assess student work using rubrics:
Also included is this adorable poster for you to hang somewhere in your class while students work on their creations!
